Cutting Edge Coatings GmbH, also called CEC, is established by Dr. Kai Starke in 2007, Hanover, Germany. Hanover is known as industry city and it is the capital city of the German state of Lower Saxony.
CEC's main business is to develop Ion-Beam-Sputtering(IBS) coating technology, product IBS coating systems - NAVIGATOR IBS SYSTEM. Ion beam sputtering is known as the industrial coating process to reach highest thin films quality. It is therefore preferred for demanding laser applications. CEC can provide customized solutions which exceed significantly state-of-the-art technology and enables our customers for a head-start against their competitors.
Dr. Kai Starke is the founder of CEC. In 2007, under the support of Hanover Laser Center, Dr. Kai Starke started to build Ion-Beam-Sputtering deposition machines in CEC. Before started his own business in CEC, he worked as a group-leader in the Hanover Laser Center.
Hanover Laser Center (LZH) is an independent, non-profit research institute for photonics and laser technology and its laser technology is famous allover the world. As a spin-off company of LZH, CEC has successfully transfer the Ion-Beam-Sputtering coating technology from the laboratory to customers in research and industry.
